In the midst of a broken world

Let me just start off by saying, I love Fuji apples. Just finished one off as a part of my lunch at the Bucks(Starbucks). Heh. I’ve been realizing some things about myself that maybe have been ideas before, but never really entertained them, or focused on them before. It could also be the fact that my pride would convince me that I was doing great and that I could get through it as long as I just grin and bear it.

I had coffee with a great friend this morning. Full of wisdom, he kept reminding me that we are in the midst of a broken world. It’s not perfect, duh, it’s pretty freakin’ jacked up in case you haven’t noticed. What is it about our human minds that keep convincing us that this world is ideal and that we have it all together. Oh yea, it’s because we ourselves are jacked up. And the cycle just keeps on going.

As a Christ follower, we need this reminder from each other and ourselves. We don’t just get the luxury to say we are Christians and then consider ourselves fixed. After now receiving grace, we are called to a life of obedience, which paired with the Holy Spirit’s direction is a pursuit of holiness that is also our responsibility to follow this direction. I received this tweet from Paul Tripp the other day, and it seems appropriate here: “Grace doesn’t free you from the call to obedience, but liberates you from the delusion that you can obey your way into God’s acceptance.” We still need God to move long after we have received grace.

I’m pleading with you and myself to know that our race hasn’t ended, but is still in progress.  So, in the midst of this broken world, we are in desperate need of a Savior.  Rest in His love tonight.

When the believer has begun with trembling feet to walk in the way of the Lord, he asks to be still led onward like a little child upheld by its parent’s helping hand, and he craves to be further instructed in the alphabet of truth. ~C.H. Spurgeon

Good words Little D, good words! So glad life is in a good place for you these days. Seems like you are enjoying life, seeking God, sharing the journey with good friends. That’s what it’s all about my man. :)
